Splitboarding The Vasquez Glades
One of our favorite places to go splitboarding is Vasquez Glades in Jones Pass. Today we headed out in a different direction from the steep walls above and headed to the trees of Vasquez Glades!
Our approach was about 2.6 miles on mostly low angel unbroken trail and let me tell you, it was awesome! Roughly knee depth ski penetration per step. Our trio and the crazies took ten minute turns leading and breaking trail heading us higher and further into the glades.
After a one mile traverse to the western slope of the glades we transitioned for a majestic powder tree run! The snow was perfect, the trees were well spaced and the lines pristine. The Vasquez Glades is Splitboarding at its finest!
One of the highlights of our trip was Luis’ Weston Backwoods. The boards profile is amazing! From Weston:
The Colorado Rockies offer a variety of terrain, so we designed a board for the rider that wants the ultimate one-board, freeride quiver. The Backwoods floats effortlessly in powder and is quick edge to edge for steep, tight tree runs. The graphic this year was inspired by our high altitude missions above and beyond treeline to the 14ers we have here in Colorado like Greys and Torreys Peak.
