The Women’s Descender is built for riders who demand big-mountain performance without sacrificing freestyle versatility. Designed as a directional freeride splitboard, it delivers the power and stability needed to charge steep lines, while maintaining enough tail length for confident switch landings. With no speed limit and best-in-class performance as its goal, the Descender thrives in demanding terrain.
Recognized for its standout design and ride quality, the Descender earned an Editor’s Choice Award 2022 from American Backcountry Magazine and an Editor’s Selection 2021 from Splitboarders Journal in Germany.
Power Bumps™ at the inserts add additional contact points for exceptional edge hold and security on icy or exposed terrain, boosting confidence when it matters most. A lightweight, responsive core keeps the board nimble for backcountry freestyle riding, combining featherweight paulownia with full-length poplar and ash laminates.
Double ash stringers paired with rubber dampening eliminate chatter when straight-lining icy faces, resulting in a smooth, controlled ride even at high speeds.
Core: Paulownia mixed with full-length poplar and ash stringers
Construction: Triax fiberglass with carbon torsion rods
Sidewalls: PU
Topsheet: Matte
Profile: Parabolic 4 mm camber with low tip and tail rocker
Shape: Directional freeride
Base: Sintered 4001 Durasurf
A directional freeride shape enhanced with Power Bumps™ at the inserts, adding extra contact points for maximum grip and control on hardpack and ice.
All Stranda snowboards feature camber combined with tip and tail rocker. The Descender uses a unique parabolic 5 mm camber, lifted slightly under the rear foot for increased pop and ollie power, paired with low tip and tail rocker for smooth turn initiation and float in variable conditions.
Stranda Snowboards blends ash with lighter woods such as poplar and paulownia to create a high-performance core. Ash provides superior vibration dampening and long-lasting camber retention, extending the lifespan of the board. Poplar and paulownia reduce overall weight, while the use of premium natural materials helps minimize reliance on petroleum-based composites.
