The BCA BC Link 2.0 is a 2 W two way radio for backcountry travel. A base unit rides in your pack and a Smart Mic clips to your shoulder strap or jacket.

What it's for

Use it to stay in touch with your group: find a partner who got separated, talk through the plan, and share what you are seeing as it happens. The radio is built to keep working in the cold.

How it works

Two piece design: the base unit holds the battery and radio, and the Smart Mic is the user interface you reach for

Smart Mic: clips to a pack strap or jacket so you can talk without digging the radio out

Channels: 22 FRS channels and 121 sub channels

Compatibility

• Works with: other FRS/GMRS radios on the shared FRS frequencies
• Packs: BCA designs it to route through BCA backpacks, airbags, and vests
• Region: North America edition. BCA states it complies with applicable North American laws

Setup and installation

• Charging: 110 V adapter with a Micro USB plug
• Before the tour: agree on a channel with your group and do a radio check at the trailhead
• Training: a radio supports group communication. It does not replace a transceiver, shovel, probe, and avalanche training. OMG runs AIARE avalanche courses
