This is a replacement pair of anti friction devices (AFDs) for the Cast Freetour 1.0 toe piece, in the version for boots with Alpine ISO 5355 soles.

What it's for

The AFD is the sliding plate under the toe of your boot on the alpine toe pedestal. It sets the height your boot sole sits at and lets the boot slide sideways so the toe can release in a fall. Each boot sole standard has a different thickness and shape at the toe, so the AFD has to match your boots.

Compatibility

  • Fits: Freetour 1.0 toe pieces with 18/19 or newer Freetour pedestals
  • Boot soles: all boots built to the Alpine ISO 5355 standard
  • Does not fit: GripWalk or touring soles. Cast makes a GripWalk ISO 23223 AFD and a Touring ISO 9523 AFD for those
  • Freetour 2.0: uses a different AFD, sold separately by Cast
  • How to check yours: the sole standard is molded into the boot sole or shell. Cast marks the ISO number on the bottom of its AFDs. If you are unsure, Cast asks you to contact [email protected]

Setup and installation

  • Tool: 2.5 mm hex key
  • Steps: remove the 2 screws from the pedestal, slide the old AFD back off the pedestal, slide the new AFD on using the slots in the pedestal sides, and refasten the 2 screws
  • After any AFD change: have the binding adjusted and tested with your boots before skiing

In the box

  • AFDs: 1 pair

Warning

All bindings must be properly adjusted and tested with the boots being used to ensure proper function prior to use.
