The Continental Kryptotal is a 29 x 2.4 mountain bike tire for trail, enduro and downhill riding in mixed terrain. It comes as a front tread (Kryptotal Fr) and a rear tread (Kryptotal Re), each offered here in specific casing and compound pairings.

What it's for

Continental describes the Kryptotal as its all round gravity tire for mixed conditions. The front and rear versions have different tread patterns, so pick the variant that matches the wheel you are fitting. Both balance cornering grip, braking traction and rolling resistance.

How it works

Kryptotal Fr tread: Shaped for front wheel jobs, which are holding a line and changing direction quickly. The knobs use a mix of steep and shallow ramps for mixed and loose ground.

Kryptotal Re tread: Shaped for rear wheel jobs, which are braking traction and tracking straight. It balances solid tread area with open space so it works across varied terrain.

Trail casing: A light and durable single ply casing for trail riding.

Enduro casing: A durable single ply casing with Apex protection at the bead to guard against snakebite pinch punctures.

Downhill casing: Continental's most reinforced casing, with 6 layers under the tread and 4 layers in the sidewall.

SuperSoft compound: Built for downhill and enduro riding where descending is the whole point. It is tuned entirely for grip, traction and control.

Soft compound: For descending focused riding. It gives high grip while keeping rolling resistance reasonable.

Endurance compound: Balances grip with long wear and lower rolling resistance.

Tubeless Ready: The casing is built to run either tubeless with sealant or with an inner tube. Continental recommends its RevoSealant for tubeless setups.

E25: Certified for use on electric bikes with assist up to 25 km/h.

Compatibility

• How to check yours: Confirm your frame and fork clear a 2.4 in tire
• Pressure and rim width: Continental prints the maximum inflation pressure and maximum inner rim width on the tire packaging and sidewall. The limits differ for hooked and hookless rims, so read them before you inflate.

Setup and installation

• Direction: Front and rear versions are different tires. Mount each on its intended wheel and follow the rotation arrow on the sidewall.
• Shop install: OMG's bike shop can mount these tubeless.
