What it's for
The Shift² 16 MN is the next version of Atomic's Shift, one of the most popular free touring bindings. It's built for skiers who tour uphill but want alpine binding power and release on the way down. Atomic developed it with its freeride team for big mountain skiing, with a DIN range up to 16 for heavier and more aggressive skiers.

How it works
Hybrid design: tour with pin tech toes, then switch to a full alpine toe and heel for the descent.
Hike and Ride switch: a full aluminum switch moves between uphill and downhill modes.
Micro AFD with Power Block: an aluminum Power Block in the toe adds lateral stiffness and power transfer.
Damping baseplate: a reinforced baseplate with metal and rubber elements absorbs vibration.
3 Part Power Heel: absorbs shock and improves retention.

Compatibility
- Boots: Atomic states it works with all normed ski boots on the market. Tech (pin) touring needs boots with tech inserts.
- Certification: Multi Norm Certified (MNC), TÜV certified.
- Brake: 110mm. Pick a brake at least as wide as your ski's waist, and no more than about 15mm wider.
- Crampons: Atomic Crampon Shift, 100mm or 120mm.
