CushCore Pro is a foam insert that sits inside a tubeless mountain bike tire. This is the 27.5 in size, for 2.1 to 2.6 in tires on rims with a 22 to 35 mm inner width.

What it's for

A tire insert fills the lower part of a tubeless tire, against the rim. It cushions the rim when the tire bottoms out on a rock, supports the tire sidewalls in corners, and helps prevent pinch flats. CushCore describes Pro as its original insert, aimed at riders who want the most protection and sidewall support.

How it works

Rim protection: the foam sits between the tire and the rim, so a hard hit lands on foam before it reaches the rim.

Sidewall support: the insert presses out against the tire sidewalls, which CushCore says reduces tire squirm in corners.

Damping: CushCore says the insert absorbs part of an impact that would otherwise pass to the wheel and suspension.

Compatibility

• Wheel size: 27.5 in
• Tire width: 2.1 in to 2.6 in
• Rim inner width: 22 mm to 35 mm
• Tire setup: tubeless
• How to check yours: tire width is printed on the sidewall. Rim inner width is usually on a rim decal or in the wheel maker's specs.

Setup and installation

• Inserts are a tight fit and take more effort to mount than a bare tubeless tire. CushCore publishes installation instructions on its site.
• OMG's bike shop can install inserts and set up your tubeless tires.
