What it's for

Ortovox describes the 3L Ravine Shell Jacket as a very light, breathable freeride jacket for the backcountry. It is a shell: it blocks wind and water and you add warmth with the layers underneath.

How it works

Membrane: Toray DERMIZAX NX, a polyurethane membrane without pores. Ortovox lists a minimum 20,000 mm water column and 32,000 g/m²/24h breathability, and rates it 100% windproof

3 layer build: polyamide outer fabric, the membrane, and a polyamide inner layer bonded together

Merino details: a 100% merino insert at the chin and a merino mesh phone pocket

Venting: long underarm zippers let heat out on the climb
