The DT Swiss Aerolite is a bladed, double butted spoke. This one is a 290 mm straight pull spoke in black, sold as a single spoke.

What it's for

Use this to replace a broken Aerolite spoke or to build a wheel with bladed spokes. DT Swiss describes the Aerolite as its low weight flat spoke with good aerodynamics and high stability.

How it works

Butted, then bladed: The center of the spoke is cold forged down to 1.5 mm, then forged flat. DT Swiss says the flat forging adds strength and creates the aero blade shape.

Fits standard holes: The blade is narrow enough to pass through standard hub spoke holes, so the hub does not need slots.

Compatibility

• Hubs: straight pull hubs only. This spoke has no J-bend.
• Nipples: 2.0 mm thread (FG 2.3)
• Electric bikes: approved by DT Swiss up to 32 km/h or 250 W
• How to check yours: Measure an intact spoke from the same side of the same wheel. Straight pull spokes are measured from under the head to the end of the thread.

Setup and installation

• Hold the blade: A bladed spoke will twist as you turn the nipple. Hold the blade with a bladed spoke holder while tensioning so it stays lined up with the wheel.

• Nipples: sold separately. Thread is 2.0 mm (FG 2.3), so use nipples made for 2.0 mm spokes.
• Correct length: spoke length depends on your rim ERD, hub flange dimensions, spoke count, and lacing pattern. Calculate it before you buy, or have OMG's bike shop measure and build the wheel.
