The DT Swiss Competition Race is a double butted J-bend spoke with 2.0 mm ends and a 1.6 mm center. This is a single 296 mm spoke in black.

What it's for

Use this to replace a broken spoke or to build a wheel. DT Swiss describes the Competition Race as the lower weight sibling of its standard Competition spoke, with a thinner middle section that saves weight while keeping stiffness and durability.

How it works

Double butted: The spoke stays 2.0 mm at the head and thread, where the stress is highest, and is drawn down to 1.6 mm through the middle to save weight.

Compatibility

• Hubs: J-bend (hooked) spokes for hubs with flange holes. Not for straight pull hubs.
• Nipples: 2.0 mm thread (FG 2.3)
• Electric bikes: approved by DT Swiss up to 32 km/h or 250 W
• How to check yours: Measure an intact spoke from the same side of the same wheel, from the inside of the J-bend to the end of the thread.

• Nipples: sold separately. Thread is 2.0 mm (FG 2.3), so use nipples made for 2.0 mm spokes.
• Correct length: spoke length depends on your rim ERD, hub flange dimensions, spoke count, and lacing pattern. Calculate it before you buy, or have OMG's bike shop measure and build the wheel.
