The DT Swiss XM 481 is a welded aluminum 29 in all mountain rim with a 30 mm inner width, tubeless ready, drilled for 32 spokes and disc brakes.

What it's for

This is a bare rim for building or rebuilding a 29 in mountain bike wheel. DT Swiss classes it as an all mountain rim, with a 30 mm inner width that gives tires more volume and sidewall support on the trail.

How it works

Welded joint: The rim ends are welded together instead of pinned or sleeved.

Hooked tubeless profile: The rim has bead hooks and is tubeless compatible.

PHR washers: The spoke holes have no eyelets. DT Swiss supplies PHR washers that sit under each nipple to spread the load on the rim bed.

Squorx nipples: The included Pro Lock Squorx aluminum nipples are driven from the rim side with a Squorx tool, and have thread locking compound in the threads.

Setup and installation

• ERD: 601 mm. Use this to calculate spoke length for your hub and lacing pattern.
• Washers: fit one PHR washer under every nipple.
• Tubeless: add tubeless tape and a tubeless valve.
• Wheel building: OMG's bike shop can calculate spokes and build the wheel.
