Finish Line DOT 5.1 Brake Fluid is a low viscosity brake fluid for bicycle hydraulic disc brakes that are designed for DOT fluid. This is the 4 fl oz size.

What it's for

Hydraulic disc brakes use fluid to carry force from the lever to the caliper. Over time the fluid absorbs moisture and breaks down, and the brake needs a bleed with fresh fluid. Finish Line says this fluid is made for disc brakes, is formulated to outlast DOT 3 and DOT 4 fluids while staying fully compatible with them, and has a very low viscosity so brakes keep working reliably in freezing conditions.

Compatibility

• Fits: brake systems that specify DOT 3, DOT 4, or DOT 5.1 fluid
• Does not fit: brakes that use mineral oil. DOT fluid and mineral oil are not interchangeable, and the wrong fluid damages the brake's seals
• How to check yours: the required fluid is printed on the lever reservoir or listed in the brake's manual. SRAM, Avid, Hayes, and Hope brakes typically use DOT fluid. Shimano, Magura, and Tektro brakes use mineral oil

Setup and installation

• Step 1: shake thoroughly
• Step 2: make sure the brake system is clean and free of contaminants
• Step 3: pour slowly into the brake reservoir, following the brake maker's instructions
• Step 4: bleed the system to remove air bubbles
• Step 5: dispose of used fluid properly, and do not mix it with other brake fluids
• Service: OMG's bike shop can bleed your brakes
