The Folkrm Tahoma Carbon is a 2 stage adjustable carbon pole with a 17 in foam grip. It collapses to 64 cm so it rides on or in a pack without getting in the way.

What it's for

Folkrm lists the Tahoma for splitboarding. It packs short for the descent and still extends to 140 cm for long traverses and flat exits.

How it works

Long grip: instead of stopping to change pole length, you slide your hand up or down the foam grip. Choke down on the uphill pole while sidehilling or on a steep skin track, and hold the top on flats and descents. On the Tahoma the grip is about 44 cm (17 in) of dense EVA foam

Length lock: a tool free clasp with a thumbscrew sets and holds the length

Carbon shaft: high modulus carbon keeps the pole stiff at a low weight

Removable strap: the strap comes off for travel in avalanche terrain

Care and service

• Carbon care: carbon shafts are stiff but can crack from a sharp sideways impact or a deep gouge. Inspect the shafts and stop using a pole with visible cracks or splinters
