The Hope Floating Rotor is a two piece 6 bolt disc rotor with a stainless steel braking surface on an aluminum center. It is offered here in 200 mm with a red center and 160 mm with a blue center.

What it's for

This rotor is for riders who put a lot of heat into their brakes, such as on long, steep descents. Hope describes it as an option for demanding use.

How it works

Floating design: The steel outer ring is not rigidly fixed to the center. Hope says it has 1 degree of freedom, so the ring is free to grow as it heats up without pulling against the center. That is what resists warping at high temperatures.

Aluminum center: The CNC machined center works as a heat sink to keep disc temperatures lower. Hope says it gives the stiffness of a thicker fixed disc without the added weight.

• Hub: 6 bolt disc hubs. Not for Center Lock hubs without an adapter.
• Thickness: 1.8 mm
• How to check yours: Match the rotor diameter to your current rotor or to your caliper adapter. Changing size needs a different brake mount adapter.
