The Mammut Aenergy ST 32 is a 32 L ski touring backpack for longer tours. It weighs 1150 g and uses an aluminum frame to move the load onto your hips.

What it's for

Mammut builds the Aenergy ST 32 for extended ski tours where you want a pack that stays light without giving up carry options. It holds avalanche gear in its own compartment and carries skis, a snowboard, a helmet, ice axes, poles, and a rope on the outside.

How it works

Aluminum frame: transfers the load from the shoulders to the hip belt

Full zipper: a large zipper opens the whole main compartment so you can reach gear at the bottom

Avalanche equipment compartment: a separate space for shovel and probe so they are not buried under other gear

Elastic chest strap: holds the pack in place while still letting you breathe and move

Features

• Ski carry: diagonal or A frame
• Snowboard: attachment included
• Helmet carrier: integrated
• Ice axes and poles: 2 attachments
• Rope: attachment on the flap
• Pockets: 2 zipper pockets, a hip belt pocket, and large mesh pockets on the shoulder strap
• Hydration: compatible with a hydration system
• Rain cover: not included

Sizing and fit

• Back length: 46 cm in size M, as listed by Mammut
• How to check yours: measure from the bony bump at the base of your neck down to the top of your hip bones and compare

Setup and installation

• Avalanche gear: pack shovel and probe in the avalanche equipment compartment and wear your transceiver on your body
• Training: Avalanche rescue gear only helps if you know how to use it. Get training and practice with your gear regularly. OMG runs AIARE avalanche courses.
