The Mammut Barryvox S2 is a compact digital 3 antenna avalanche transceiver with a 70 m search strip width. It adds guided fine search, probe indication, and pro settings for complex rescues.

What it's for

A transceiver sends a 457 kHz signal while you travel in avalanche terrain and switches to search so you can locate a buried partner. The S2 is the Barryvox with the larger function set: guidance through the fine search, deep burial and analog modes, and configurable pro settings.

How it works

Intelligent fine search guidance: patented visual and acoustic guidance that walks you through the fine search

Probe indication: once the lowest distance is found, the display tells you to move from fine search to probing

MIP display: a 2.3 in Memory in Pixel screen with 300 x 240 px resolution. It is high contrast, readable in bright sun and through polarized glasses

Rescue SEND: switches rescuers who are not searching to transmit if a secondary avalanche buries them

Auto revert to SEND: a motion sensor switches from SEARCH to SEND after 4 minutes without movement

Self test: checks transmission, battery, and signal functions at startup

Interference Guard: manages and reduces signal interference

Group check: confirms the transmit frequency and signal strength of your partners' transceivers

Acoustic guidance: beeps get faster and louder as you close the distance

Auto Select: with several burials, it leads you first to the signal it receives at the highest strength

Marking function: mark a located burial and move on to the next signal

Deep burial mode: starts the fine search earlier, at more than 3 m, for very deep burials

Analog search: an added analog function for complex search scenarios

Pro features: Pro Check mode, pro search settings, and configurable guidance

Vital data detection: vital data sent by Bluetooth can help with triage decisions

Bluetooth: firmware updates, configuration, and search training through the Mammut app
