The Mammut Removable Airbag System 3.0 is a mechanical, cartridge powered avalanche airbag with a 150 L balloon. It installs in Mammut Removable Airbag 3.0 packs and can be moved between them. The cartridge is not included.

What it's for

An avalanche airbag is meant to help keep you nearer the surface of a slide. This is the airbag unit on its own, for a pack sold as Removable Airbag 3.0 Ready or as a replacement or shared unit between compatible packs.

How it works

Deployment: pulling the T shaped handle releases gas from a screw in cartridge, which fills the 150 L airbag in about 3 seconds

Handle: height adjustable and stowable when you do not need it

Removable: the system comes out of the pack, so one unit can serve several compatible packs or the pack can be used without it

Packing size: the system sits fully inside the pack and takes up little volume

Color: the airbag is a bright color so a buried or partly buried person is easier to spot

Setup and installation

• Install: follow Mammut's user manual step by step, and do a test release before the season
• Travel: Mammut publishes airline travel provisions for the system. Check them and your airline's rules before flying with a cartridge
• Training: Avalanche rescue gear only helps if you know how to use it. Get training and practice with your gear regularly. OMG runs AIARE avalanche courses.
