National Geographic’s Trails Illustrated Holy Cross & Ruedi Reservoir Map provides detailed guidance for exploring the rugged and scenic landscapes of central Colorado. Developed in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service and other agencies, this map highlights key areas including White River National Forest, Hunter-Fryingpan Wilderness, Holy Cross Wilderness, Mount of the Holy Cross, the Sawatch Range, Turquoise Lake, Sylvan Lake State Park, and the Continental Divide.

Trailheads connect to precisely mapped trails, with mileage indicators and color-coded designations for hiking, cross-country skiing, biking, snowmobiling, or other motorized travel. Both the Continental Divide Trail and Colorado Trail are highlighted for long-distance exploration.

The map base features contour lines with elevations, labeled passes, peaks, and summits, along with detailed water features such as reservoirs, lakes, and streams. Boundaries between public and private lands are clearly marked. Key recreation features include campgrounds, fishing areas (including gold-medal streams), boat launches, canoe areas, and 10th Mountain Division huts.

Printed on “Backcountry Tough” waterproof, tear-resistant paper, the map is durable for field use and includes a full UTM grid to aid with GPS navigation.
