Park Tool SAC-2 SuperGrip is an assembly compound that adds friction between clamped parts so they do not slip. It comes in a 4 oz (113 g) tube.

What it's for

Carbon seatposts, handlebars, and stems can slip in their clamps, and the fix is not to overtighten the bolts. Assembly compound adds friction at the clamp so the part holds at the correct torque. Park Tool says SAC-2 also forms a protective barrier between different materials. It lists seatposts, handlebars, and stems made from carbon fiber, aluminum, and steel as the intended uses.

How it works

Silica grit: SAC-2 contains small bits of hard silica. The particles bite into both surfaces and raise the friction between them

Compatibility

• Use on: seatposts, handlebars, and stems in carbon fiber, aluminum, and steel
• Do not use on: threaded parts, bearings, or in grease guns
• Finish note: the silica may leave minor cosmetic marks on finished surfaces

Setup and installation

• Application: spread a thin layer on the clamping surfaces, assemble, and tighten to the part maker's torque spec
• Service: OMG's bike shop can install carbon parts with a torque wrench

Warning

Do not use SAC-2 on threaded parts, for bearing lubrication, or in grease guns such as the Park Tool GG-1.
