A Problem Solvers headset top cap and star nut for 1 1/8 in threadless steerer tubes, in black.

What it's for

On a threadless headset the star nut is pressed into the steerer tube and the top cap bolt threads into it. Tightening that bolt pulls the stem and spacers down to set the headset bearing preload before you tighten the stem clamp bolts. This kit replaces a lost or damaged cap and star nut.

Compatibility

• Steerer: 1 1/8 in threadless
• Note: star nuts are normally used in metal steerer tubes. Carbon steerers normally use an expansion plug instead. Check your fork maker's instructions.
• How to check yours: 1 1/8 in steerers measure 28.6 mm outside diameter at the stem.
