Sea to Summit Field Repair Buckles replace a broken buckle on a pack or strap without sewing, using a removable pin in place of a sewn bar. OMG lists side release 2 pin buckles in 5/8, 3/4, 1.5 and 2 in, and a ladder lock 1 pin buckle in 1 in.

What it's for

Fixing a broken or worn buckle on a backpack, bag or strap at home or in the field. Sea to Summit names pack waist straps as the common use for the side release buckle, and pack shoulder straps and load lifter straps for the ladder lock.

How it works

Removable pin: a normal buckle has a molded bar that the webbing loop is sewn around. Here that bar is a stainless steel pin held by a screw. You remove the pin, line the buckle up with the existing sewn loop of webbing, slide the pin back through and tighten the screw with a Phillips screwdriver.

Side Release 2 Pin: a standard two part side release buckle for places where the strap adjusts on both sides of the buckle. Thread the webbing through each side.

Ladder Lock 1 Pin: a single piece tensioning buckle. One pin anchors it to a sewn loop and the free strap threads through the ladder.

• Size by webbing: choose by the width of your webbing, not the width of the old buckle
• 5/8 in: 15 mm webbing
