Union Ankle Hardware is the set of screws, washers, and barrels that fastens the ankle strap to the binding at the highback pivot. It replaces lost, worn, or stripped hardware.

What it's for

The ankle strap on a Union binding bolts to the heel area with a screw that threads into a barrel, with a washer on each side. If a screw backs out on the hill, strips, or goes missing, the ankle strap can no longer hold your boot. This kit replaces that hardware. Union also points to it as a fix for previous generation bindings whose ankle connections keep working loose.

Features

  • Material: Grade 8.8 steel
  • Finish: corrosion resistant
  • Thread retention: Nylock coating on the screws to help them stay tight

Compatibility

  • Fits: all Union snowboard bindings, 2016 to present
  • How to check yours: Union stamps the size on the binding and the model name on the highback or baseplate. Bindings older than 2016 are not covered by Union's fit statement

Setup and installation

  • Assembly: one screw, one external washer, one internal washer, and one barrel per strap attachment point
  • Tool: Union sells a #3 screwdriver for its binding hardware. The product page does not list a torque value
  • Check: confirm the screws are snug before each day of riding

  • External ankle washers: 4
  • Internal ankle washers: 4
