The Black Diamond VaporLock Screwgate is a 52 g pear shaped locking carabiner for belaying and rappelling. It is a type H (HMS) connector with a keylock nose and a screwgate sleeve.

What it's for

A locking carabiner to pair with your belay device or to belay with a Munter hitch. The pear shape gives the rope and device room to move, and the shape is designed to add friction when you lower or rappel.

How it works

HMS shape: type H connectors are made for dynamic belaying with a Munter hitch or a belay device

Added friction: Black Diamond states the shape increases friction by up to 30% when lowering or rappelling with an ATC

Keylock nose: the nose has no hook, so it does not snag on rope, slings, or gear loops

Screwgate: you turn the sleeve by hand to lock the gate. Check that it is locked before you load it
