The Wolf Tooth ReMote Light Action is a cable actuated dropper post lever with a longer lever arm for a lighter push. This IS-AB version bolts to Shimano brake levers that use the I-SPEC A or I-SPEC B mount.
What it's for
This is a thumb lever for a cable actuated dropper post. Instead of its own bar clamp, it hangs from the Shimano brake lever clamp, which leaves more room on the bar. The Light Action version has a longer lever than the standard ReMote, so it takes less thumb force. Wolf Tooth recommends it for posts that pull hard and for riders with thumb injuries or reduced hand strength.
How it works
Longer lever: The Light Action lever is 57.1 mm long, compared with 46.3 mm on the standard ReMote. Wolf Tooth says that is 25% longer and cuts the force at your thumb by about one third.
Bearing pivot: The lever turns on a 21 mm sealed cartridge bearing.
Cable fixing at the lever: The cable is clamped at the remote, not at the post. Use it with droppers that hold the cable head at the post end.
Barrel adjuster: Cable slack is taken up at the lever.
Breakaway axle: The pivot axle is made to break away in a crash to protect the lever. Wolf Tooth sells replacement axles.
Compatibility
- Brake levers: Shimano levers with I-SPEC A or I-SPEC B mounts. Wolf Tooth's chart lists older models such as Saint M820 and XT M780 under I-SPEC A and B.
- Does not fit: I-SPEC II or I-SPEC EV levers. Those need the IS-II or IS-EV version.
- Dropper posts named by Wolf Tooth: Thomson, Fox Transfer, Race Face, Easton, and 9point8. Wolf Tooth describes the Light Action as suited to posts with a harder cable pull.
- How to check yours: Look up your brake lever model number (printed on the lever body) in Shimano's documentation to confirm which I-SPEC version it uses.
Setup and installation
- I-SPEC A: Insert the square end threaded post into the brake lever clamp, then thread the M4 socket head cap screw through the ReMote mount with a 3 mm hex. Torque 1 to 2 N·m.
- I-SPEC B: Insert the dual threaded post into the underside of the brake lever. Thread the M4 set screw through the boss until it stops and torque to 1 to 1.5 N·m. Then thread the M4 socket head cap screw through the ReMote mount and torque to 1 to 2 N·m.
- Cable: Back the cable clamp screw out 2 to 3 mm with a 2.5 mm hex, feed the cable through the housing, barrel adjuster, and groove, then tighten.
- Cable clamp screw torque: 1 to 2 N·m
- Lever position: Loosen the lateral adjustment screw with a 3 mm hex, slide the lever where you want it, then tighten.
- Lateral adjustment screw torque: 1 to 2 N·m
- Slack: Use the barrel adjuster to remove cable slack after the cable is clamped.
